David Gilmour is guitarist, vocalist and writer with Pink Floyd, but is also renowned for his solo work: his highly acclaimed 2006 platinum album On An Island was Number 1 in the UK and achieved Top Tens in many countries. David Gilmour and Roger 'Syd' Barrett met as children in Cambridge, UK, and later began playing guitar together.

David Jon Gilmour CBE is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter, who is a member of the rock band Pink Floyd. He joined as guitarist and co-lead vocalist in 1967, shortly before the departure of founding member Syd Barrett. Pink Floyd achieved international success with the concept albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and The Final Cut.
