Various forms of this form of sport took place at Charterhall with drivers such as Jim Clark, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart all having competed there until its main heyday ended in the mid-1960s.
Hace 4 días · Eastchurch undoubtedly became Britain’s major naval airfield at this time until Cranwell arose in 1916. Earlier wartime days also meant an offensive force had to be quickly gathered, and this resulted in the famous Eastchurch Squadron forming under Charles Samson.
Hace 5 días · In 1948/49 Lewis was a flying instructor at RAF College, Cranwell. In 1949/50 he was seconded to the Falkland Islands Government, during which time he set up the Government Air Service there. In 1951 Lewis returned to Cranwell as a Squadron Commander at the FTS.
