During his career, he released only two albums but charted 12 singles on the Billboard country charts, and 7 more after his death. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, Whitley grew up in nearby Sandy Hook, Kentucky.

Inducted. 2022. Born. July 1, 1954. Died. May 9, 1989. Birthplace. Sandy Hook, Kentucky. A premier vocal stylist, Keith Whitley helped spearhead the New Traditionalist revival of classic country music in the 1980s, at a time when pop- and rock-inflected songs and styles dominated the genre.
Three of those tracks lead 16 Biggest Hits, and “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” “When You Say Nothing at All," and “I’m No Stranger to the Rain” remain some of the finest songs of '80s country music. However, Whitley’s earlier works, released before he was a big star, are just as good as the huge hits.

Galante will be inducted in the “Non-Performer” category, which is awarded every third year in rotation with “Recording and/or Touring Musician” and “Songwriter” categories.
