Cooltide is an album by John Martyn. Recorded at CaVa Sound Workshops, Glasgow, Scotland. Originally released on CD by Permanent Records, catalogue number PERM CD 4. The album marks the handover by longtime Martyn keyboard collaborator Foster Patterson to his successor Spencer Cozens.

Every album is a collection of songs that encapsulate his life at the time it was recorded; a musical diary. Released on 9th September 1991 Cooltide was recorded and mixed in less than 3 weeks.
1 de oct. de 1991 · Cool Tide has its moments. 12 minutes worth in the vibe of the title track, as Martyn’s guitar momentarily battles with Andy Sheppard’s swirly saxes over Alan Thomson’s driving bass. And on the best cut, ‘Father Time’, Martyn’s voice roars like a wounded bear railing against the ravages of the grim reaper.
