Comus are a British progressive folk band who had a brief career in the early 1970s. Their first album, First Utterance, has garnered them a cult following that persists to today. They reunited in 2009, and have played several festivals and released a new album called Out of the Coma .

COMUS was a folk-prog band that existed from 1967 to 1972 and reformed in 2008. They are known for their experimental, deranged and graphic songs, such as "Drip Drip" and "First Utterance".

Forged in the creative crucible of 1968’s ‘Summer of Love’, Comus took a decidedly darker path than flower-draggled hippiedom, with a prophetic counter-culture vision of ferocious, glowering firepower. Their seminal album ‘First Utterence’ has continued to mesmerise and subvert since its release in 1971. In 2008 Opeth's Michael Akerfeld persuaded the band to reform.
