Roy Harper (2001) Roy Harper (Manchester, 12 juni 1941) is een Engelse blues-, rock- en folkzanger.Vele Britse musici zijn door hem geïnspireerd.. Biografie. Na de dood van zijn moeder groeide hij op in Blackpool bij zijn vader en stiefmoeder, met wie hij niet kon opschieten vanwege haar geloof (Jehova's getuigen).Zijn antireligieus standpunt werd later een bekend thema in zijn muziek.
Roy Harper was an eccentric English folk-rocker, a self-titled "sophisticated beggar" in the tradition of Hyde Park. Sophisticated Beggar (Strike, 1966 ... Commercial Breaks, recorded in 1977, would only be released in 1994. Roy Harper 1970/75 (Harvest, 1978) is an anthology.
Notes. 'Commercial Breaks' was a "lost" Roy Harper album, recorded in 1978 and intended for release by Harvest in 1979 but that didn't go beyond the test pressing stage. At the last minute, Roy Harper decided to shelve the whole project, being unhappy with the album : "I thought that I could have done so much better with more time.
