René Hall, Carol Kaye, and Earl Palmer were among the musicians. “Come On, Let’s Go,” an original ascribed to Ritchie/Kuhn (Keane’s true name), and “Framed,” a Leiber and Stoller composition, were the first songs recorded at Gold Star Studios, in a single studio session one afternoon in July 1958.
Soon, ‘Come On Let’s Go’ appeared on Keene’s Del-Fi label. It was a good latin rocker, very reminiscent of Bobby Freeman’s then-recent hit, ‘Do You Wanna Dance’. In September 1958 it entered the Billboard chart and in October it peaked at Number 42. A cover version by Tommy Steele sold well in the UK. Two sides of Ritchie.
