Colorado to Liverpool. Released 2007. After a long hiatus, Firefall returned to the studio to record “Colorado to Liverpool,” a tribute album to the Beatles. The project featured the band’s renditions of classic Beatles tunes, adding their own signature touch to these timeless pieces. The album was independently produced and released.
Stoking a sound that had been smoldering in the Rockies, Firefall landed six singles on the Top 40 charts between 1976 and 1981. Singer-songwriter Rick Roberts and guitarist Jock Bartley founded Firefall in the summer of 1974. Roberts had served as a spark for the Flying Burrito Brothers from 1970 to 1972, after Gram Parsons left the band.
Firefall is an American country rock band that formed in Boulder, Colorado, in 1974. It was founded by Rick Roberts, former member of the Flying Burrito Brothers, and Jock Bartley, who had been Tommy Bolin's replacement in Zephyr. Then in l973, as he and his new Colorado based band were about to play their first gig but still needed a name, the image flashed back: Firefall. That seems an especially dead-on handle for the country flavored rock’n’roll band that carried the torch of musical forebears such as The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Flying Burrito Brothers into the mid-’70s and beyond.
