Colleen Dewhurst was a Canadian-American actress mostly known for theatre roles. She won two Tony Awards and four Emmy Awards for her work on the stage and television. She played Marilla Cuthbert in the Anne of Green Gables series and Road to Avonlea. She also appeared in films, early dramas, and Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival.
