9 de ago. de 2000 · Cluster II studies Earth's magnetosphere. The four spacecraft of the Cluster II mission are part of the European Space Agency (ESA)'s and NASA's Solar-Terrestrial Science Program. Type. Orbiter. Launch. Aug. 09, 2000. Target. Sun-Earth Interaction. Objective. Study Earth's magnetic environment.
Cluster II is a space mission of the European Space Agency, with NASA participation, to study the Earth's magnetosphere over the course of nearly two solar cycles. The mission is composed of four identical spacecraft flying in a tetrahedral formation.
The fleet of four identical Cluster spacecraft is currently investigating the Earth's magnetic environment and its interaction with the solar wind in three dimensions. Science output from the Cluster mission greatly advances our knowledge of space plasma physics, space weather and the Sun-Earth connection and has been key in improving the ...
9 de ago. de 2000 · The Cluster mission comprises four satellites flying in a tetrahedral formation and collecting the most detailed data yet on small-scale changes in near-Earth space, and on the interaction between the charged particles of the solar wind and Earth’s magnetosphere.
Cluster-II. In April 1997 ESA decided to proceed with a recovery program, a new four-spacecraft mission, called Cluster-II, retaining all of the critical mission parameters.
9 de ago. de 2000 · Mission. Cluster is a constellation of four spacecraft flying in formation around Earth. They relay the most detailed information ever about how the solar wind affects our planet in three dimensions. The solar wind (the perpetual stream of subatomic particles given out by the Sun) can damage communications satellites and power stations on Earth.
Cluster II. Cluster is currently investigating the Earth's magnetic environment and its interaction with the solar wind in three dimensions. Science output from Cluster greatly advances our knowledge of space plasma physics, space weather and the Sun-Earth connection and has been key in improving the modeling of the magnetosphere and ...
