Zusammen mit Jones und Travis bildeten sie den Kern des Gospel-Quartetts „The Brown's Ferry Four“. Der 4. 12. 1952 markierte dann das Ende der Delmore Brothers: Rabon Delmore starb an Lungenkrebs und Alton, der zum Schluss noch als Hausierer gearbeitet hatte, trank sich zu Tode.
