The Yardbirds (Keith Relf, harmonica, vocals (tracks 1-8, 15) ; Eric Clapton, lead guitar ; Chris Dreja, rhythm guitar ; Paul Samwell-Smith, bass ; Jim McCarty, drums) ; in part with Sonny Boy Williamson, harmonica, vocals (tracks 9-14)
The Yardbirds were an English rock group that had a string of Top 40 radio hits in mid-1960s in the UK and the US and introduced guitarists Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Their first album released in the UK, Five Live Yardbirds (1964), represented their early club performances with Clapton.
The album is basically broken down into three sections: songs recorded for one of the Yardbirds' first recording sessions (highlighted by a cover of John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom"), a short live set from 1963 at the Crawdaddy Club, and a live set backing up blues legend Sonny Boy Williamson.
