Chigwell School is a co-educational independent boarding and day school. It is a private school, and not a Public School, which is a common misconception. It is located in Chigwell, in the Epping Forest district of Essex. It consists of a pre-prep (ages 4–8), Junior School (ages 8–11), Senior School (ages 11–16) and sixth form.

Chigwell School is an academically selective independent school for boys and girls between the ages of four and eighteen. The foundation of the School is Anglican and a Christian ethos is maintained, but pupils and staff are welcomed from many different ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Chigwell School was founded in 1629 and for nearly four centuries we have been preparing pupils to go out into the world. Pupils enter the Senior School in Year 9, although they will have been following a senior school curriculum since the start of Year 7. This is both an exciting and increasingly serious phase as pupils’ development, emotionally and academically, accelerates quickly towards maturity.
