Chasing Shadows is the Comsat Angels' sixth album, released in 1986 on Island Records. Having left Jive Records, the band had gotten a recording contract with Island, aided by Robert Palmer, who confessed on a TV show to be a fan of the Comsat Angels.

Following the missteps of two more mainstream-sounding efforts, the Comsat Angels signed to Island at the behest of an in-house champion — Robert Palmer, in another example of his wide and intriguing tastes — and created Chasing Shadows, almost picking up where Fiction had left off.

Chasing Shadows in Q. Despite an initial chorus of critical acclaim, the Sheffield quartet lost their way in the early '80s and had passed their sell-by date with a couple of record companies before Robert Palmer 's timely intercession secured the current deal with Island.
