2 de may. de 2024 · ACTOS «EN DIRECTO» – En esta charla de la historiadora del arte Federica Palomero se aborda la figura de Chaïm Soutine, nacido en 1893 en la provincia de Minsk (Imperio ruso, actual Bielorusia), en una familia judía ortodoxa muy humilde y muerto en París en 1943. Su carrera estuvo llena de un sinfín de vicisitudes.

In spite of the fact that Soutine's figure paintings, like his depictions of other subjects, are characterized by extremely deformed, violent brush work and strident color contrasts, they are extremely deft in their visualization of the individuality and character of their subjects.

Chaïm Soutine. smilovitch, 1893 - Paris, 1943. 心を病む女 Mad Woman. スーティンの人物画は、他の主題を描いたものと同様、極端なデフォルメと激しい筆触と強烈な色彩対比が特徴だが、それにも拘わらず、人物たちの個性や特徴は、極めて鋭く表現されている。 気の弱そうな若者、陽焼けして赤い顔の農夫、物怖じしない上流の女性、おずおずとした召使い等々。 この《狂女》もまた、大きく見開いて据わった目、引きつった顔面、緊張のゆるまない肩先や両腕、振り乱した髪などが、異様な緊迫感を画面にみなぎらせている。 その印象は、さらに赤い服と荒々しい筆遣いによって引き立てられる。
