Around 1978 Duke Robillard of Roomful of Blues called Carl and asked him if he’d like to join the crew. Robillard was thinking of beefing up the horn section and Carl was on his short list as the trombone player. “And of course I accepted,” he said.

Carl Querfurth grew up in Peterborough, New Hampshire. He played trombone in junior and high school bands and then moved to Providence RI in 1977 to join the Back Slap Blues Band. In 1978 he joined Roomful of Blues for 1 year, before Porky Cohen.
