The North Rim is at 8000-8500ft, the bottom of the canyon at the Colorado River is at 2000-2500ft, and the South Rim is at 7000-7500ft. You are going to start at the top of one rim, descend all the way to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and then ascend back up the other rim.

The top of the South Rim is at about 7500-7000ft and the Colorado River is at about 2500-2000ft, with Plateau Point sitting almost halfway between them at ~4000ft. When standing at Plateau Point, hikers will have 360° views of canyon walls rising around and above them.

The historic Hermit's Road drive isn't exactly one particular viewpoint, but a scenic, historic drive featuring several vantage points you won't want to miss. Hermit's Road Drive begins from the Grand Canyon Village and stretches all the way to Hermit's Rest, 7 miles (11.2 km) to the west.
