At the time, Volker, Camile Baudoin and Frank Bua, Jr. were in a band called The Rhapsodizers, while Dave Malone and Reggie Scanlan were in a band called Road Apple. Scanlan had also, not long before, been a member of Professor Longhair's touring band. The five musicians felt an immediate rapport.
