The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts (BAVPA) is a magnet performing arts high school and part of Buffalo, New York's public school system. It serves grades 5-12 and requires students to apply in the field of their desired major concentration.
Our History. The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts was founded as part of the desegregation plan in 1977. The goal was simple: provide an exciting college preparatory program for students in the arts and academics that will attract all races and ethnicities.
Students must come to the Arts Academy to complete an In-Person Audition at the. school for one of the following artistic areas: Grades 9 – 12 - Dance, Instrumental Music, Media Communications, Theatre, Visual Arts, Vocal Music, and Differentiated Technical Theatre & Maintenance.
BAVPA is a grades 5-12 school that offers college preparatory programs in music, dance, theatre, visual art, and media. It has a history of producing successful alumni and partners with Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Centre.
