Bryan Bassett (born August 11, 1954) is an American guitarist who has played with several notable bands but is best known as a member of Wild Cherry in the 1970s who had a hit with "Play That Funky Music". Early career. Bryan was born on August 11, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In 1996 Bryan Bassett recorded a CD in Germany titled “Devil’s Canyon” for “CBH/SPV Records” in Europe, “Mayhem Records” in the US and “Avex Records in Japan”. In January of ’98 he returned to Germany to record the CD “Silent Reign of Heroes” and again in 2000 to record “Kingdom of XII” both on CMC International in the US and CBH/SPV in Europe.
Now, in 2024, Foghat consists of Roger Earl pounding the skins, long time member Bryan Bassett (Molly Hatchet, Wild Cherry) on lead/slide guitar, singer/bassist Rodney O’Quinn (Pat Travers Band) on bass & vocals, and newest member, lead vocalist and guitarist Scott Holt (Buddy Guy) who also played with the Foghat side project Earl & the Agitators for 8 years.
In 1989, Bryan Bassett formed a friendship with Foghat’s “Lonesome” Dave Peverett and soon joined Peverett’s band, Lonesome Dave’s Foghat. The friendship was fruitful, and Bassett served four years in Peverett’s alternate version of Foghat, which toured simultaneously but separately from Roger Earl’s version of Foghat.
