Bringing out the dead is an unrelentingly depressing watch. For many that's enough to just make this movie a non-starter. Almost every element of this movie brings the lead and those around him down like an ever steeper helter-skelter. There are some points that seem a stretch, making the movie slightly less credulous.

The picture appears in Widescreen 2.35:1, and the sound is 5.1 Dolby Digital. Despite being a rather elderly edition, the quality of both image and sound is remarkably good. There is some bonus material.
