Bring the Family is John Hiatt's eighth album. It was his first album to chart on the Billboard 200 , and featured his first single entry on the mainstream rock chart with "Thank You Girl". It features Ry Cooder on guitar , Nick Lowe on bass guitar and Jim Keltner on drums .

"Bring the Family" es uno de esos discos que aunque no hayan alcanzado el pedigrí de otros, son tan grandes que cuando lo escuchas por primera vez sabes que siempre te va a acompañar. Tal vez no se convierta en una necesidad como otros, pero si va a ser una elección feliz y atinada, una apuesta segura.
En 1987, Keltner, junto al guitarrista Ry Cooder y el bajista Nick Lowe, se reunieron para tocar en el álbum de John Hiatt Bring The Family. Cinco años después, los cuatro músicos se reunirían bajo el nombre de Little Village, llegando a grabar un álbum del mismo nombre.
Bring the Family is also a grassroots effort of sorts, the first of Hiatt's eight albums to truly capture on vinyl the raw power and emotion he brings to his performances. For the effort, producer John Chelew gathered together a trio of superbly simpatico players for backup: Ry Cooder (guitar, vocals), Nick Lowe (bass, vocals) and Jim Keltner (drums).
