While he worked paper routes and played gigs in local nightclubs to pay for lessons and support his family, Jones, on the side, was also recording sessions in what became the famous Stax Studios-all while still in high school.

Booker T. Jones. Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, arranger and producer, born 12 November 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee. Founding member of Stax ' in-house band Booker T & The MG's in 1962. He left Booker T & The MG's and the label in 1970, to embark on a career as a producer and solo artist. Father of Booker T. Jones III and Liv Jones.
