13 de may. de 2012 · As the house band for Stax Records, Booker T.& The M.G.'s served as the studio backing band for many of the label's artists through the 60s, and can be heard on many of the decade's most notable Soul and Rhythm & Blues albums- highlights include Otis Redding's Otis Blue: Otis Redding Sings Soul, Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign, and William Bell's The Soul of a Bell.

Booker T. & the M.G.'s is een instrumentale soulband, vooral populair in de jaren zestig en zeventig.De band wordt vaak in het subgenre Memphis soul geplaatst. In 2007, they were presented with the GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award, while they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2012, and the Blues Hall of Fame in 2019.
