During a stint with Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys in the 1960s, Greene invented the fiddle technique known as “the chop.”. Later, as a member of the rock band Seatrain in the ’70s, Greene became the first musician to use an electric violin to play rock ’n’ roll music.
