Birkdale School is a Christian independent school for pupils aged 4–18, in the city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire in England. Founded by Maurice Asterley, in 1904, the school provides education underpinned by a strong Christian ethos.
Welcome to Senior School. At age 11, pupils from Birkdale Prep School are joined by children from many different schools. A welcoming environment, tailored to the needs of the individual, allows all our pupils to settle in quickly, make new friends and enjoy their days at school.
Birkdale School is an independent school of around 800 pupils aged 4-18 with a co-educational Sixth Form of nearly 200.
History. Since its foundation by Mr Asterley, first Head Master at the turn of the century (1904), Birkdale has continued to grow and develop, with expansion most marked in the last thirty years.

Birkdale School is an HMC day school for 750 pupils, co-educational at the Prep School and with a Sixth Form of around 200 pupils. The age 4–11 Prep School is on a separate campus nearby. ( For further details see IAPS section .)
