As the Tony Rich Project, he debuted in 1995 with Words, writing, performing, and producing every note of the LP himself. After scoring the Grammy-nominated hits "Like a Woman" and "Nobody Knows," he released 1998's Birdseye, also for LaFace, and then went the independent route with Resurrected (Rich Projects/Compendia, 2003), Pictures (Rich Media/IM, 2006), and Exist (Hidden Beach, 2008).

Biografie. Bekannt wurde Rich unter dem Namen The Tony Rich Project mit dem Lied Nobody Knows, das Ende 1995 in die US-Charts stieg und dort Platz zwei erreichte. Im Frühjahr 1996 folgten Platzierungen in den deutschen Top 100 (Platz 86) und den englischen Top 10 (Platz 4). Nobody Knows gehört zu den zehn meistverkauften Singles des Jahres 1996 im Vereinigten Königreich.
