William James Eyden (4 May 1930 – 15 October 2004) was an English jazz drummer. Biography. The son of James Eyden and Ivy (née Tiller), his first professional gig was in 1952 with the Ivor and Basil Kirchin Band. He was soon working with Ray Kirkwood and Johnny Rogers, and appeared on TV in 1953 with the pianist Steve Race.
Bill Eyden, who died on October 15 aged 74, was one of Britain's finest drummers and a leading pioneer of modern jazz in this country. Beneath his undemonstrative style, Eyden wielded a commanding, sometimes ferocious beat, deployed with masterly technique.

25 de jun. de 2018 · For session drummer Bill Eyden, “A Whiter Shade of Pale” became his most famous recording, for which he was paid the princely sum of 15 guineas, (which was around £15.50 or $25). Sadly, Bill died on 15th Oct 2004.
Born in 1930 Bill Eyden became, in the 1950s, one of Britain's finest modern jazz drummers. Undemonstrative in style he wielded a ferocious beat deployed with masterley technique that welded a conventional piano-bass-drums rhythym section into a cohesive entity.
