La bilis (del latín bilis) 1 o hiel 2 es una secreción líquida amarillenta, amarronada o de color verde oliva y de sabor amargo producida continuamente por el hígado y almacenada y concentrada en la vesícula biliar de muchos vertebrados. Interviene en los procesos de digestión funcionando como emulsionante de los ácidos grasos.
Bile (from Latin bilis), or gall, is a yellow-green fluid produced by the liver of most vertebrates that aids the digestion of lipids in the small intestine. In humans, bile is primarily composed of water, produced continuously by the liver, and stored and concentrated in the gallbladder.
