Brenda Russell (née Gordon; born April 8, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and keyboardist. Russell has a diverse musical range which encompasses R&B, pop, soul, dance, and jazz. She has received five Grammy nominations.

Heard "Hard Sun" when it first came out in 1989 before it slipped off the radio charts. loved it then, love it now. so much better than the version from the movie. backing vocals by Joni Mitchell and a great vocal performance by Brenda Russell makes Hard Sun itself worth the price of the album.
