Big Joe Turner (vocals; born May 18, 1911, died November 24, 1985) Big Joe Turner was the brawny-voiced “Boss of the Blues.” He was among the first to mix R&B with boogie-woogie, resulting in jump blues - a style that presaged the birth of rock and roll.
10 de feb. de 2007 · Big Joe Turner passed away at age 74 on November 24, 1985. For his contributions he was inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame in 1983 followed by the R&R Hall Of Fame in 1987. Just a magnificent compilation of one of the all-time greats which would have been made ever better with the inclusion of that first hit, as well as the missing flipsides, in place of some lesser material.
Big Joe Turner (Joseph Vernon Turner Jr., Kansas City, Missouri, May 18, 1911 – Inglewood, California, November 24, 1985) was an American blues shouter. Although he came to his greatest fame in the 1950s with his pioneering rock and roll recordings, particularly " Shake, Rattle and Roll ", Turner's career as a performer stretched from the 1920s into the 1980s.
