Photo by Brian Krahe. Beren Matthews is a UK guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and producer. Having grown up musically on a diet of nu-metal and punk, he earned his professional spurs playing in covers bands, finally forming a power trio playing all original material in 2011.

Grip-Like Vice are a dynamic young band who play high energy, original art-pop. The band list XTC, They Might Be Giants, Everything Everything, The Beatles, Prince, The Wannadies, Elliot Smith and Elvis Costello (whose ‘Party Girl’ song lyrics inspired the group’s name) among their influences, but the chief inspiration is a desire for originality.
Having enlisted guitarist Beren Matthews, the Stewart / Gaskin band performed successful Autumn 2018 headlining concerts in Tokyo and London, the latter also featuring master drummer Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, The Pineapple Thief).
