Johnson was born in Waltham Forest, Greater London. [5] He is second cousins with former Manchester United and England full-back Paul Parker and former England and Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King. Jonson died on or around 16 August 1637, and his funeral was held the next day. It was attended by "all or the greatest part of the nobility then in town". [21] He is buried in the north aisle of the nave in Westminster Abbey, with the inscription "O Rare Ben Johnson [ sic ]" set in the slab over his grave.
