Ludwig van Beethoven (døbt 17. december 1770, fødselsdagen fejres traditionelt 16. december, død 26. marts 1827) var en tysk komponist og pianist. Han er en af de betydeligste tyske komponister og den komponist, der har haft størst indflydelse på udviklingen af tysk kompositionsmusik efter 1800.
