  1. Barry Layne Switzer (born October 5, 1937) is an American former football coach. He served for 16 years as head football coach at the University of Oklahoma and four years as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL).

  6. Barry Switzer was born October 5, 1937 in Crossett, Arkansas. He started football at Crossett High School, then played at the University of Arkansas. He was center, linebacker, and captain of the 1959 team which won the Southwest conference and the Gator Bowl.
