Muziek. Roger Keith (Syd) Barrett ( Cambridge, 6 januari 1946 – aldaar, 7 juli 2006) was een Engelse zanger, gitarist, componist en kunstenaar. Syd Barrett werd vooral bekend als de oprichter van de rockgroep Pink Floyd. Barrett was zeven jaar als rockmuzikant actief, voor hij zich terugtrok uit de openbaarheid.
Syd Barrett (1946–2006) was an English rock musician who was best known as the original frontman and primary songwriter of Pink Floyd. With the band, he recorded and wrote the majority of songs for their first album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and was credited for one song ("Jugband Blues") on their second album A Saucerful of Secrets.
Roger “Syd” Barrett died of pancreatic cancer on 7 July 2006 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, but his legacy lives on in the acknowledgement of his increasing influence over scores of musicians. A tribute concert was held at London’s Barbican Theatre in 2007, curated by Nick Laird-Clowes and Joe Boyd.
