24 de feb. de 2023 · Barbara Castle, a renowned British politician, served as the Member of Parliament for Blackburn from 1945 to 1979, a period during which women constituted less than 5% of all Members of Parliament. Castle's selection as a parliamentary candidate was due to the intervention of Blackburn's women's labour party, who threatened to resign unless she was included on the all-male shortlist.
