Endless Lies is Jeff Lynne trying to be Roy Orbison.An early version of this song is available on the re-mastered version of Secret Messages. Send It isn't a great song, it's not awful, but it's not a great closing track for the final album of one of the greatest groups in the world. There were some other songs recorded for this album.
"After mining the Beatles gold mine for all those catchy hooks, by the time that Balance of Power was released, Jeff Lynne and company had pretty much found that once-rich vein going dry. This album did contain yet another Top 40 hit with "Calling America," but by the mid-'80s, ELO were finding their audience and their inspiration on the wane.

Despite Jeff Lynne being forced to make the album before he could venture off into other music projects, ... Balance of Power (which Jeff half-jokingly referred to as "Balance of Payments") was released in 1986. The songs are very, very good. I'm a fan of good '80s synthpop, and this is a great example of the genre.
In 2013, Lynne released a solo album of '50s and '60s pop hits titled Long Wave, as well as the ELO album Live, which featured concert performances ELO recorded during the tour for Zoom. Two years later, Lynne revived ELO -- this time the billing was Jeff Lynne's ELO -- for Alone in the Universe, his first album of originals in 14 years.
26 de abr. de 2022 · Jeff Lynne is teveel vakman om hem ooit een keer te betrappen op slecht werk. Dat is Balance of power dus ook niet. Jeff's probleem was, dat deze vorm van vrij snelle symfo rock, in korte nummers, niet meer werd omarmd door de 'oude' garde van de Electric light orchestra fans en dat voor de nieuwe lichting de tijden te spannend waren om te kiezen voor ELO, als nieuwe groep.
