Jeff Lynne's song-writing skills are truly phenomenal, and no matter which decade we are talking about, his production is masterful. Electric Light Orchestra's 1981 masterpiece, Time, was followed up brilliantly by the stellar Secret Messages, but it is not until this album that I realised how incredibly consistent this band is. Balance Of Power is, again, near-flawless.
