Frederick Dewayne Hubbard (April 7, 1938 – December 29, 2008) was an American jazz trumpeter. [1] He played bebop, hard bop, and post-bop styles from the early 1960s onwards. His unmistakable and influential tone contributed to new perspectives for modern jazz and bebop.
_Back To Birdland_ is a hidden gem in the pendulum-like discography of Freddie Hubbard in the 1980's. Using the term pendulum, I mean that the quality of the records was never consistent. They would either be very nice, or almost unlistenable - two swings of the pendulum.
