The pacing is perfect; Corman wisely doesn’t allow too much time to pass between crab sightings because, let’s be honest. Most of us watching a movie called Attack of the Crab Monsters are just waiting for those little scamps to make their appearances.

Coreman worked with similar ideas in Night of the Blood Beast (1958) but in that film it was an alien threat positioned as more explicitly malevolent in it's assimilation, a sort of biological Borg.
