23 de sept. de 2021 · Archer Alexander was a formerly enslaved man who served as the model for the Emancipation Monument dedicated on the eleventh anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. He was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, in the early nineteenth century and worked as an enslaved laborer in Missouri. He was emancipated in 1863 and died in 1880.
