Anna is mostly known as one half of duo Kate & Anna McGarrigle with sister Kate McGarrigle. In the 1960s, Anna McGarrigle was in the Montreal folk group Mountain City Four (MC4). During the first half of the 1970s she experienced some success as a songwriter and in 1974, her song "Heart Like A Wheel" became the title track for Linda Ronstadt 's breakthrough album.
