The Angel of Shavano Campground is ideally suited for tent camping. The campsites are wooded with aspen and spruce trees along the north fork of the south Arkansas River. The Angel of Shavano Trailhead for the Colorado Trail #1776 is across the road from the campground.
Mount Shavano lies in the south-central part of the Sawatch Range, north of Mount Ouray and Mount Chipeta and south of the Collegiate Peaks (including Mount Princeton, Mount Harvard, and Mount Yale). Mount Shavano is famous for the Angel of Shavano , a snow formation in the image of an angel that emerges on the east face of the mountain during snow melt each spring.

From the summer trailhead of Shavano/Tabeguache, there are obvious signs for the Mt Shavano trail and the Colorado Trail. Follow these to roughly 11,000' where you can choose to either continue skinning up the Mt Shavano trail to the summit, or continue straight up the obvious Angel of Shavano gully you are already in, straight to the summit. Line choice here will be fluid based on conditions ...
Info: The Angel of Shavano CG trailhead (CT) is 90% snow free and only requires boots/shoes. The Blank Gulch TH may be drivable as there is minimal snow below 10K in the region (Note: we did not drive this, so drifts may exist, simply hypothesizing). Info: Free and clear. 19 de may. de 2023 · This group campground is located near the Angel of Shavano campground and adjacent to the creek. Volleyball, softball, and a horseshoe pit are available. Visitors must bring their own equipment including volleyball net, baseball equipment and horseshoes. Parking is provided for 12-14 passenger vehicles.
Angel of Shavano Group Campground is considered one of the area’s best kept camping secrets. It is situated next to the North Fork South Arkansas River and offers a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, biking and fishing. The campground is named after an image of an angel that appears as winter snow fall on Shavano Mountain.
