In her late teens she met Sufi leader Hazrat Inayet Khan who was touring the United States lecturing and giving musical performances. The family moved to London just before the First World War started and ended up living in Bloomsbury. Noor started nursery in Notting Hill. But in 1920, after the war the family decided to move to France.
