  2. Founded in 1815, Allegheny is the oldest college in continuous existence under the same name west of the Allegheny Mountains. It is a member of the Great Lakes Colleges Association and the Presidents' Athletic Conference , and it is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education .

  4. You won’t be molded into just a major at Allegheny. To offer students a variety of perspectives, each program at Allegheny belongs to one of six divisions. After first exploring several interests, you will choose your major at the end of your sophomore year. But that’s just the start of it.

  5. Courses offered include History of the United States to 1865, Colonial Latin America, A History of the Modern Middle East, 1839-present, The Greek World, 1184-323 BCE, and The Soviet Century, 1917-present. 200-level topical courses are also an option for entering students.
