Barrett was replaced on bass by Alfie Agius for the Shuttered Room tour. Agius' stay in the band was short-lived, though, as he left during the 1983 recording of their next album Reach the Beach , after having recorded four tracks.

3 de ago. de 2020 · There's a very good chance that if you grew up in the Eighties, you were pretty familiar with the New Wave bands The Fixx and The Teardrop Explodes. The bassist in both of those bands was a young guy, Alfie Agius. From what I have read he largely played a fretless bass.
In order to keep the band on the road as a touring concern, two London musicians were hired – keyboard player Jeff Hammer and bass player Alfie Agius (the latter freeing Cope to concentrate on vocals and rhythm guitar).

After critical and commercial success, the band toured to promote the album (with one-time Fixx bassist Alfie Agius as their session bass player). The band then recruited Richard McCracken , formerly of Taste , as "permanent" bassist, and released another success in the form of All Fired Up the following year. [1]
