Alan Ciner (born May 14, 1947) is an American guitarist best known for playing guitar for The American Breed from 1966 to 1970. Career. He was the guitarist for Gary & the Knight Lites, who changed their name to The American Breed. The American Breed are best known for their 1967 song Bend Me, Shape Me.
The original members of the group included Gary Loizzo (vocals and guitar), Charles "Chuck" Colbert, Jr. (bass guitar and vocals), Al Ciner (guitar and vocals), and Jim Michalak (drums).

American Breed were a short-lived rock band forming in 1966 and disbanding in 1969. The American Breed would later evolve into a band under the moniker Rufus. Band members included Gary Loizzo (vocals, guitar), Al Ciner (guitar), Kevin Murphy (keyboards), Charles Colbert (bass), and Lee Graziano (drums).
Rufus was formed in 1969 by Kevin Murphy and Al Ciner from the background of two rival bands in Chicago. The band was a group in transition by the time they signed their deal with ABC in 1972 after a brief period with Epic.
