After the final show of Era II in September of 2014, Aksel Holmgren decided to leave to begin work on The Great Discord's debut album with future collaborator and friend of the band, Sofia Kempe. He was eventually replaced by Martin Hjertstedt on drums during the lead up to the band's 2015 European tour.
