Akira Ifukube (伊福部 昭 Ifukube Akira: Kushiro, 31 de mayo de 1914 - Tokio, 8 de febrero del 2006) fue un compositor japonés de música clásica y cinematográfica; en el segundo campo, sus obras más conocidas son aquellas que compuso para la serie de películas de Godzilla, de la casa productora japonesa Tōhō .
Akira Ifukube (伊福部 昭, Ifukube Akira, 31 May 1914 – 8 February 2006) was a Japanese composer. He is best known for composing several entries in the Godzilla franchise as well as developing the titular monster's roar.

Ifukube employs rhythmic patterns of 5 and 7 beats to the measure throughout this pianistically demanding work, which is based on the rhythmic characteristics of traditional Japanese poetry. Premièred in October 1961 in Tokyo.
